International students to help address Canada’s labour shortage
Excellent news for the industry as we enter a busy Fall season...Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced a new temporary measure aimed at alleviating Canada's historic labour shortages. This policy change will allow over 500,000 international students already in Canada to work more hours by lifting the 20-hour limit. The limit will be lifted temporarily on November 15 until the end of 2023.
The end of a 4-year term is on the horizon for our current volunteer Board of Management. At November's Downtown Kingston AGM, members will have the opportunity to elect new board directors from a list of nominees. Elected directors will serve a 4 year term from January 2023 – December 2026.
Please consider if you or someone in our membership would be a good candidate. The BIA needs a strong, engaged board going forward.
Applications are due no later than October 21st at 4:00 pm for the 2022 Nighttime Santa Parade! The big guy is making his highly anticipated return to downtown Kingston on Saturday, November 19th. The parade begins promptly at 5:00 pm and wraps up at approximately 7:00 pm with the tree lighting ceremony in Springer Market Square.
