In the 80s I came from Montreal to attend Queens University where my wife and I fell in love with the city and decided to make this our home. Managing the Confederation Place Hotel, located in the center of Downtown Kingston, for many years has informed my relationship with the Downtown Kingston BIA (DK). I have participated in committee work with DK for the last 25 years and have volunteered every year to support various events and festivals. Furthermore, I have encouraged generations of staff members to volunteer their time to the organization. I have boundless enthusiasm for DK and would be honoured to harness my energies to promote and enhance the value of this beautiful downtown. In my business, I meet people from all over the world. It has been a pleasure to extol the virtues of our city to those who are visiting. The enthusiasm of those considering a trip or relocation to Kingston is only eclipsed by those who have already been here and delight in recounting their experiences to all who will listen. This does not happen without the efforts of the 700+ members of DK and an enthusiastic group of people who run DK. My job as a board member will be to support the DK organization so that they can continue to add value to those businesses that choose to establish themselves downtown. I would like to see more businesses and their employees engage with DK to further improve the livability and profitability of this great asset that is Downtown Kingston. I would be happy to contribute my experience in business and my time to their efforts.
