I moved from Lebanon to Kingston 15 years ago and found my passion in the aesthetics field. After working at Dolce Bella Spa for four years I purchased Lush Nail Bar and Aesthetics in 2011. I rebranded the business to reflect my culture, thus the name Sabaya - which means ‘young ladies’ in Arabic. Together with my husband, we now own several businesses in downtown Kingston including Beaver Tails and Thai Express. I love Kingston, the downtown area and especially Wellington St., however, this street along with many other side streets are often not fully engaged in downtown Kingston events and programming. I am naturally creative and enjoy improving and adding more life to projects that I am involved in. I feel very passionate about improving the side streets to help businesses located on them to succeed. I would like to work with landlords to look at ways to make rent and other expenses more affordable - especially in these difficult times - to make life easier for business owners. The waterfront needs more improvement. I’d like to bring scooter and bike rentals back, and explore opportunities to add more coffee shops and entertainment facilities along the water. I am very moved by the circumstances of the vulnerable on our streets and would like to contribute to improving their quality of life in the best way possible while ensuring the safety of the broader community. The transportation system, sidewalks and walkability can be immensely improved, and I would like to make a difference in this area. I have some great ideas!
