Spring is here and tourist season is around the corner for Downtown Kingston. Our Street Crew along...
Champions for Change
Champions for Change is open to business owners and employees in the downtown core that want to work together to make streets of downtown Kingston safe, secure and welcoming, while addressing current challenges with street-involved individuals battling mental health and addictions.
If you have recently felt helpless about what you are seeing on the streets - people who are in distress, cold and/or hungry - but you also feel the stress of what visitors and businesses must feel, Champions for Change is a way to contribute to improving the circumstances of the street-involved and of our downtown community.
The group will develop its own mission, philosophies and strategies at the first roundtable. Members of this group will balance the desire to address the needs of those who are street-involved - while addressing safety and well-being of those who use our streets and our spaces for working and enjoying. We want our community to be welcoming, safe and compassionate - and it takes more than just a few to help address the complicated and intricate issues at play.
Please reach out to your circle of friends, family, business colleagues and neighbours to ask if they are interested in this project, and if so, to RSVP for the first roundtable below:
First Roundtable: Thursday, January, 12, 6-8 pm
Sign up for the first 'Champions for Change' meeting. The first meeting will be held at Seaway Coworking, 310 Bagot St.
Although I will be facilitating and participating in these roundtables, the intention is for them to be member-led. Please feel free to forward this email to other members or employees that work in the downtown core that are passionate about this topic.
