Do you need staff? We can help.

Tourism Summer Job ConnectDear Kingston Tourism & Hospitality Businesses:

As we enter the busiest ten weeks of summer, we know you continue to struggle with workforce challenges to meet the demand of visitors to our city.

In partnership with Kingston Accommodation Partners, Downtown Kingston BIA and Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce, we are trying a six-week pilot program with KEYS Job Centre to assist you in recruiting staff.  Here's what we're doing:

  • KEYS is providing a dedicated Job Connector to help match those seeking summer employment with tourism businesses who are hiring.

Matt Snell will be your contact and he can be reached at:

matthews@keys.ca

613.546.5559 ext. 368

613.876.9074 cell

  • Please send Matt your staffing needs (including job title, hours/schedule, wages/salary, a brief job description, and any other requirements) and he will ensure they are posted on the KEYS Job Board - https://keys.ca/jobboard
You can also post your jobs yourself on the board, but we encourage you to reach out to Matt with extra details to help him be successful in matching applicants.
  • KEYS is also offering space at their downtown location on Sydenham Street next Monday, June 27 from 10am - 2pm for on the spot interviews/hiring if you are interested in using the space and having interviews set up for you.  Just ask Matt.

In order for this to be successful, we not only need to know what jobs you are having trouble filling, but we need to engage those looking for work.  We are focusing a paid social media campaign targeting people aged 16 - 22 years (high school students and post-secondary) living in the area.  The call to action of this campaign will be having job seekers send their resumes directly to Matt.  He will then be able to share  and match appropriate skills/level of experience.

Matt will also be able to connect into KEYS programs supporting Ukrainian refugees in Kingston and with international students living in Kingston.

As this is a pilot - we're open to all suggestions and feedback.  Our goal is to assist you in hiring the staff you need to operate.  If successful, we will also look to organize a similar hiring campaign at the end of August for part-time workers in the fall.

All the best,

 Donna, Krista, Marijo and Karen

Jobs for Ukraine

In response to the worldwide efforts to support Ukrainians fleeing the war, on March 17, the Government of Canada announced the launch of the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). The CUAET allows Ukrainians and their immediate family members to stay in Canada for up to 3 years and to work in Canada during this time. Temporary Residence Pathway

The Government of Canada also issued a call to all employers who wish to support Ukrainians with offers of employment to register these offers on Job Bank's Jobs for Ukraine webpage. Job Bank will then work with local organizations and employers to help connect them with Ukrainians seeking work in their communities.

Instructions for Employers: On the Jobs for Ukraine webpage, you will be able to create a job posting and let Job Bank know it is for Ukraine. It is very simple. Job Bank will follow up with you afterward with details on how the process will work.

You can find out more at Job Bank.
